Ljubljana Festival is the oldest and biggest festival in Slovenia and in the wider European context as well, established in 1953. It has won recognition for its long tradition, fine selection of featured artists and events, artistic excellence and its affordability to a wide circle of visitors. With its colourful cosmopolitan spirit, the festival hosts symphonic and chamber concerts, opera, ballet and theatre performances, International Fine Arts colony in the splendid surroundings of Plečnik’s Križanke complex and children’s and youth workshops led by acclaimed and well-established artists.
Ljubljana Festival is organised by Festival Ljubljana, an institution which provides cultural events and organizes activities relating to theatre, music, and the visual arts.
Festival Ljubljana also organizes a Winter Festival, a festival of contemporary music Slovenian Music Days, an International music cycle Young Virtuosi for talented young musicians and Christmas concerts for students of music schools.
