St-Luc is also home to the renowned Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory (OFXB), which offers memorable stargazing opportunities for astronomy fans.<\/p>\n<p>Higher up at nearly 2,000 metres, the smaller village of Chandolin is one of the highest villages in Europe inhabited all year round and boasts even better views. A perfect destination for those seeking peaceful relaxation at high altitude it enjoys a particularly high level of sunshine and has been a firm favourite among the rich and famous for many years.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"section-apres-ski-bars-nightlife-in-st-luc-chandolin-2\">Apres-Ski Bars &amp; Nightlife in St-Luc Chandolin<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Most of St-Luc Chandolin\u2019s guests are content to head back to their accommodation to relax after a day on the slopes. Accordingly, the apr\u00e8s ski scene is laid back and limited to a small selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. If all you need for apr\u00e8s ski is to enjoy a few drinks and a good meal after a hard day\u2019s skiing you will be fine. Only Pub Azimut remains open after midnight.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Pub Azimut, St Luc<\/h3>\n<p>The liveliest and most popular bar in St-Luc, Pub Azimut is a fun place for drinks from 7 pm until late. Open from 19:00 to 02:00 Mon-Sun.<\/p>\n<h3>Le Tapouk, St Luc<\/h3>\n<p>Le Tapouk is a popular open-air apr\u00e8s-ski bar on the Place de la Marmotte in the centre of of St-Luc that is only open in winter. Open from 16:00 to 20:00 Mon-Sun.<\/p>\n<h3>Le Tir\u2019Bouch, St-Luc<\/h3>\n<p>A popular caf\u00e9 and bar in the centre of St-Luc and a fun place to visit for an aperitif and to enjoy savoury and sweet snacks and dishes, such as fondues, traditional &#8220;plat Valaisan&#8221; and camembert au four. Open from 16:00 to 23:00 Mon-Sun.<\/p>\n<h3>Le Panoramik, St-Luc<\/h3>\n<p>Le Panoramik is a small and friendly Swiss-Belgian bar in the centre of Saint-Luc offering an extensive selection of Belgian beers and a simple menu including great burgers, Vegan curry, tasty desserts and amazing views of the valley. Open from 07:45 to 21:00 Mon-Sun.<\/p>\n<h3>Le Ratrac Bar, Chandolin<\/h3>\n<p>Le Ratrac is a pop-up bar with outdoor seating and built around an old snow grooming machine from the 1970s. Located at the bottom of the Illhorn slope in Chandolin (or above the Tourist Office if approaching from below), it\u2019s a fun spot for apr\u00e8s ski drinks and music after an exhilarating day on the mountain. , DJs on Saturdays. Open from 15:00 to 19:00 Mon-Sun in winter.<\/p>\n<h3>Sunset Bar, Chandolin<\/h3>\n<p>The Sunset Bar at the Chandolin Boutique Hotel is a great place for apr\u00e8s ski drinks with music and a friendly atmosphere and opens only on Saturdays. Open from 16:00 to 20:00 Sat.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"section-restaurants-in-st-luc-chandolin-3\">Restaurants in St-Luc Chandolin<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Val d\u2019Anniviers is proud of its Valaisan food and St-Luc Chandolin offers great opportunities to enjoy raclette, fondues and other Swiss mountain fare at restaurants scattered around the villages including the main hotel restaurants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chez Ida and Le Tzambron restaurants at the Hotel Bella Tola, the Brasserie du Cervin at Grand Hotel du Cervin, the Veranda restaurant at Le Grand Chalet Favre, Hotel Le Beausite and La Fougere Hotel &amp; Restaurant in St-Luc, and the Chandolin Boutique Hotel restaurant in Chandolin, are all open to non-residents for lunch and dinner. For relaxation, there are wellness centres providing spa treatments and rejuvenating massages.<\/p>\n<h3>Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory (OFXB), St-Luc<\/h3>\n<p>St-Luc is home to the famous Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory (OFXB), which offers fans of astronomy an unforgettable night-time experience. The OFXB is a leading observatory at an altitude of 2,200m equipped with state-of-the-art telescopes and a cutting-edge digital planetarium in the mini cinema room (15 seats). Join a public group or schedule a private group to enjoy memorable animations of the Universe and views of the sky at night. If the weather is favourable, the OFXB offers alternating and complementary naked-eye and telescopic observations from the observatory terrace. When the weather is unfavourable, planetarium sessions are available. Groups meet at the bottom station of the funicular in St-Luc 15 minutes before the appointed time. Enjoy short walks (1-3km) in under an hour within and around the lovely villages of St-Luc and Chandolin or easy hiking trails (5km) that cross the ski area and longer walks including the trail from St-Luc to Cabane Bella Tola (8km) involving more climbing and descending and the 11km St-Luc Planets Path walk via Tignousa to Hotel Weisshorn for good walkers.<\/p>\n<h3>Ice Skating in St-Luc<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.valdanniviers.ch\/en\/Z15191\/ice-rinks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The skating rink in St-Luc<\/a> opens in winter is illuminated at night and is open until 9 pm.
