Whistler hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics and the years preceding the Olympics saw the biggest development boom in the resort’s history. The ski season in Whistler-Blackcomb runs from late November until early June and snowfall averages over 33 feet (more than 10 metres) per year, supplemented by extensive state-of-the-art snowmaking facilities over the main runs and the ski outs.<\/p>\n

While the amount of snowfall in Whistler is rarely in question, the relatively low altitude of the village at 2,142 feet (653 metres) and its coastal proximity means rain can fall in the village and on the lower mountain.
